Professor of Peace and Development in the School of Global Studies at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Previous positions at the Universities of Sussex and Warwick in the UK as well as the Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands. In 2007-10 Centennial Professor at the London School of Economics. Doctorate in International Relations from the University of Sussex (1990) and an honorary doctorate from the University of Gothenburg (2010). Research (with more than 100 publications) covers globalization, global governance, civil society in global politics, global democracy, and legitimacy in global governance. (Co-)convener of nine major research projects. Former lead editor of the journal Global Governance.
